Perpetuating the legacy of Pierre Verger, a French photographer who documented African-based religions (West Africa/America), often seen by Westerners as the taboo world of spirit worship. As was Pierre Verger, Jerome is himself a Hougan (Vodou Priest).

ayiti kriyé.

A mere three weeks after the 2010 earthquake, this series is centered around four symbolic images of the destruction, each surrounded by two pictures taken from a Vodou ceremony. The message being conveyed? Haiti will have to find resources out of its culture, beliefs and resilience as it had become obvious that promised resources weren’t forthcoming.
